Philosophy of Homer Elementary

It is the belief of the Homer Elementary School that each student be given every opportunity to develop his/her potential to the highest degree possible. The school, the home, and the church share in the responsibility of educating each individual. We all share in the intellectual, social, cultural, moral, and physical development of each child with which we come in contact.

 

We believe that each individual student should realize his/her own abilities, rights, and responsibilities as a person, and should be taught to accept and display that best social behavior and moral conduct in any group of which he/she is a part. We believe that in order to accomplish this, it is our duty to instill in each student the qualities of honor, devotion, loyalty, courage, service, and responsibility.

 

Our philosophy maintains that the school should teach the child to think; to achieve healthful living and wholesome use of leisure time; to respect authority and property. We strive to instill in all students the desire to work and play creatively and help learn self-discipline. As a faculty and staff, we believe in true worth of each child and that he/she has a contribution to make to society. Education should prepare a child to deal with the challenge of life in a positive and successful manner so that he can become a productive citizen in our society.
