Dear Parents and Students, Welcome to First Grade! I am the Reading and Language Arts teacher. Reading is one of the most important things we will be learning this year.
I want to encourage you to read every chance you get! Our Claiborne Parish Library has many wonderful books to choose from, and I will be sending home a Scholastic book order each month for you to purchase books from. Our two annual Book Fairs are also wonderful place to find good books.
Writing is also a very important part of First Grade. Make writing a part of everyday. Keep a journal, write family or friends notes and letters, and write your own stories.
Reading and writing are both excellent brain exercise! Remember homework is always due on Fridays. Spelling and Sight Word test are also on Fridays. Be ready!
